Dear Guests and Friends of Dieci Boutique Restaurant, we are proud today to be the 1st and only restaurant in Bulgaria to be the recipient of the Green Key International Certification of Sustainability.

 

Green Key International with headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark awards The Green Key certificate for tourism facilities.

Green Key International has been in existence for 30 years and has developed from a national initiative in Denmark to become the World's Leading Eco-Certificate for hospitality establishments.

Green Key is a leading standard of excellence in the field of sustainable tourism, guiding tourism establishments in doing their part in achieving the 13 Green Key most important Criteria

The criteria are established at international level and are common to all countries.

They are reviewed each year to meet the environmental requirements of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

This reassessment shall be carried out in conjunction with all national eco-label coordinators.

The Green Key Certification is based on compliance with strict internationally recognised criteria in the areas of environmental management: water, energy, waste, cleaning, sustainability education to staff, guests, suppliers, etc and much more.

 

Compliance with the criteria is confirmed through a rigorous application process and third-party verified after regular on-site audits. The award is valid for one year at a time.

The Green Key program is managed by the international charity, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and its national member organisations.

Dieci Boutique Restaurant as per today is fully sustainable. Energy self-sufficient, water independent and we recycle all plastic, all paper, cardboard, metal and styrofoam.

Dieci literally has nothing to throw on a daily basis in the bin. Our glass is crushed in a specialized machine and that glass is collected and brought to a specialized facility to be safely processed.

Dieci boutique Restaurant grows, harvest, ferments and compost all its vegetables and fruits. We hunt responsively and only use certified meats and fish products from non endangered species.

All our dairy is organic and our eggs are certified as free range with humane and ethical practices.

Dieci Boutique Restaurant also has its own bees and we collect our own honey. Our honey is 100% coming from natural bee pollination and no sugars and any additives are added.

At Dieci Boutique Restaurant we do not use any pesticides and/or fertilisers in any of our outdoor spaces or indoor spaces as we believe in the circle of life and birds need to feed from insects.

Zero Waste is our Core Philosophy

At Dieci Boutique Restaurant we produce our own souvenirs and artefacts made from recycled metal, paper and plastic materials and sell them to our guests. By doing this, all our guests feel involved, inspired and indoctrinated into the importance of supporting sustainable actions at our restaurant and everywhere else.

 

All the money gathered from our homemade artefact sales is devoted entirely and 100% to paying willing members of our small village to go out there and collect all glass, plastic, metal, paper, cardboard and any debris on the streets of Devino and our nearby forests. In this unique way we responsibly incorporate our community and boost in our village’s members the core values of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle; which are the core values of Dieci Boutique Restaurant and Green Key International

We hope this too inspires business owners and the community at large in Bulgaria to follow and copy our sustainable actions from now on and until forever. Following our Responsible Business Philosophy, we reduce our environmental impact in a meaningful way.
